“Walking the Way of Jesus”

Pastors Spencer and Allen preach an eight-Sunday sermon series called, Walking the Way of Jesus.

Following Jesus is more than going to church or believing the right things; it is practicing a way of life.
The meaning of “follow Jesus” is rooted in 1st century practices of rabbis and apprentices, practices that inform our understanding of how to follow Jesus today.

Using Luke’s Gospel as our guide, FPC Moorestown begins walking the way of Jesus. In Luke’s Gospel, discipleship is the practice of following Jesus as a teacher and master, and helping others do the same. Luke’s Gospel portrays discipleship as a way of life that involves sacrifice, commitment, and a variety of other life-altering practices.

This sermon series combines with an 8-week study for Lent called, “Practicing the Way.”   JOIN A SMALL GROUP

Memory Verse: “Then he said to the crowd, “If any of you wants to be my follower, you must give up your own way, take up your cross daily, and follow me. If you try to hang on to your life, you will lose it. But if you give up your life for my sake, you will save it. (Luke 9: 23, 24)

Practicing the Way Course

We INVITE You to Join Our Lent Study

Following Jesus has long been likened to a spiritual journey. When Jesus invited his first disciples to “follow” him on the “way,” he was simultaneously saying that discipleship to him is a lifelong path. The Practicing the Way Course is just a primer. It’s designed to get you started on the journey of spiritual formation, help you get unstuck if you’ve stalled out, or just guide you into taking your next step. Ultimately, its goal is to train you to live as an apprentice of Jesus: to be with Jesus, become like him, and do as he did.
