The service of our deacons as set forth in Scripture is one of sympathy, witness and service after the example of Jesus Christ. The primary work of a deacon is to minister to those who are in need, to the sick, to the friendless and to any who may be in distress both within and beyond the community of faith.
So, our deacons led the way for us all in ministry to those with needs - whether members of the church or friends from the community. For instance, through their local benevolence ministry, our deacons direct financial support to ministries like MEND, The Tender and Providence House, contact and The Christian Caring Center. Through their ministry of Community Welfare, they're on the point in our outreach to the homeless through IHN (Interfaith Hospitality Network), to the children of prisoners through Angel Tree and participation in the Moorestown Community CROP Walk. Through their hunger ministry, they help feed families during the holidays with food baskets and week-to-week with the food shelf they keep stocked at our church, in addition to supporting the local Ministerium's Good Samaritan Ministry and Community Food Pantry. And that's not to mention ministries of Visitation and Hospitality that encourage and care for members of our own congregation.
Anyone interested in more information about the ministry of our deacons or who would like to assist them in their good work can contact current president David Mann at firstname.lastname@example.org.
